Being surrounded by distractions and opportunities to waste time, we live in an age where it’s easier to procrastinate than ever.
Think about it. Hundreds of thousands of us have extremely high screen times on our phones because we’re scrolling aimlessly through other people’s social media feeds. We play games that we don’t particularly enjoy. We’ll take hours over the period of a year completing nonsensical quizzes that tell us what type of bread we would be if we were bread and which fictional character we would be if we were in a book.
It’s not surprising that many of us are becoming discontent and bored! The answer to this problem, however, is simple. You just need to be more productive with your time.
Here are a few steps that can help you to achieve this:
Create a To-Do List
Some of us will have tasks lingering around for days, weeks, or even months on end, because we simply forget to get them done as and when we should. We’ll remember that we were meant to do something just before going to bed, when we are busy doing something else, or at random moments throughout the day. Instead, why not create a “to do list”? This will ensure that you know exactly what you need to do at the beginning of each day. You can keep checking back on it and cross things off as and when they’re complete. By the end of the day, you’re much more likely to have got things done!
Pick Up Shortcuts and Other Skills On Your Laptop
We are spending more and more time on our laptops and while shortcuts and other skills may seem relatively novel, they can prove to be extremely time saving and useful when put to use on a daily basis. So, learn how to use your laptop as effectively as possible. Tricks such as how to split screen on Mac, knowing which keys to press to copy and paste, and knowing how to automatically screenshot can really help you to get work and other tasks completed as quickly as possible.
Avoid Overworking Yourself
Many people see overworking themselves as being extremely productive. They believe that they’re getting a lot done and achieving more in their day to day lives than the majority of other people. But the truth is that if you overwork yourself, you are much more likely to burn out and become extremely unproductive for a period of time. When you overwork yourself for a while, you’ll begin to become extremely reluctant to do what you’re supposed to be doing. You’re likely to procrastinate and put things off, as you search for a rest or a break instead. You’re much better off using your time wisely and ensuring you have some time off for leisure instead.
These are just a few pieces of advice, but hopefully, they’ll get you started off in the right direction!. Your days will be much more productive in next to no time.
