Sisley Eye Contour Mask Review

Eye creams: they’re a bit of a faff, aren’t they?

That’s what I thought up until my recent winter skin issues; despite religiously slathering the stuff on morning and night since the age of 25, I was never sure if my eye creams were actually doing anything.

And then the winter happened and the dry skin was upon me. My eyes were crepe-y, dry, red, irritated, and made me look ten years older. They were just horrendous and I felt like nothing I was doing – drinking tons of water, applying gentler creams – helped.

Until Sisley’s Eye Contour Mask arrived on my doorstep from the beauty hall at Harrod’s. I’ve used a couple of their products before, but never their eye cream, so I was intrigued to see how this would fare on skin that was arguably the worst it’s been since my ferocious mid-eyebrow zits of 2001-2002. Would it be enough to handle my ravaged and aged face? At that point I was desperate for something – anything – to rescue me from premature ageing.

For reference, this is how my eyes looked pre-treatment and in the midst of the skin problems. I was wearing make-up here but note the dry under-eye skin, which spread around the eye contour to the eyebrows. I was a sad face indeed:

Product nameSisley Masque Contour Des Yeux (Eye Contour Mask) £81.50

Product info: Sisley Eye Contour Mask is an express smoothing mask used to reduce under-eye puffiness. This mask is specifically formulated for the fragile skin of the eye contour and has a unique combination of plant-based active ingredients (Ginkgo biloba, Arnica, Horse Chestnut, Linden blossom), vitamins (Provitamin B5 and Vitamin E Acetate), and oligo-elements (Malachite and Chlorella). It works within 10 minutes to hydrate and reduce signs of fatigue, leaving fine lines around the eye visibly smoothed,  puffiness and dark circles reduced and the eye contour’s natural defences are reinforced.

How to use: apply a thick layer in the eye contour, leaving for ten minutes before wiping residue away with a tissue. After removal, the original “gel patch” texture of this mask leaves an imperceptible gentle film that continues to work after application.

What I reckon: I use this product slightly different to the instructions. Treating it as an overnight mask, I apply the gel/creme hybrid gently to the eye contour last thing at night 2 or 3 times a week, after cleansing and moisturising. It’s pricey so I want to make sure I’m making full use of the ingredients so, sorry Sisley, I don’t tissue it off.

I go to sleep and wake up in the morning with happier eyes.

In all honesty, this eye cream has touched my eye contour in ways no other has (ooer). When I was at the deepest depth of my winter skin hell, this is the product that brought me back from the brink and made me feel comfortable again. It literally removed the ten years that my sensitive skin had added to me, seeing off the wrinkles, dry skin and sensitivity. The proof is in the eye-related pudding, after using for three weeks:

Yes, it’s expensive, but in my opinion it’s worth it. As a bi-weekly eye treat a 30ml tube should stretch you around 9 months, and I will most definitely be re-purchasing. This product would be great for those who, like me, have ageing, sensitive or dry skin around the eye area.

Ooh what a gorgeous treat to buy for yourself. Can I confess something? I’ve only used eye cream a few times in my life. I know I’ll end up with horribly wrinkly eyes but I just don’t care enough!!
