Even though my children are now 4 and (eek) 6, I think I’m still allowed to lust after nursery interiors.
I mean, when it comes to decorating your kid’s room, the newborn stage is the one time you will have full autonomy over exactly what it looks like. That blissful period before they discover everything Thunderbirds, Minions and Frozen. The calm before the storm when all they’ll want to do is paint EVERYTHING pink and plaster photographs of princesses all over the walls (and the bed, and the wardrobe…).
Never mind the fact that as soon as they begin to crawl and play with toys your beautiful storage schemes will be no more. Disregard your hundreds of carefully selected raffia boxes, soon the floor will be littered with Buzz and Woody, Shopkins and ripe to be stepped-on LEGO pieces, Lightening McQueens and Dusty Crophoppers. Tres chic… not.
Which is why my advice to you would be: enjoy it while you can. Lovingly craft your meticulously themed Pinterest board, buy that co-ordinating storage, indulge in the matching wall decal and cushions. Push the boat out!!
If you’re currently thinking about baby’s first nursery, Oak Furniture Land are here to help. They’ve recently launched a gorgeous new range of nursery furniture and are offering a collection worth £1000 to one lucky competition winner. All you have to do is put together, using Pinterest, your dream nursery scheme.
Now, I’ve always been a fan of grey and monochrome nurseries: not only are they unisex (yay for unisex) but they are modern, classy and have a lovely Scandinavian feel. And, thinking into the future, furniture in hues of grey and white will always find a purpose later on in life in other rooms of the house; I pinched Elfie’s old changing unit – it’s white – and it’s now my dressing table.
Buy a hot pink sideboard and in two years’ time you’ll definitely regret not being able to slot it into a living space without a TON of Farrow and Ball heaped on it, trust me.
So how do you win £1000 worth of furniture from the good people at Oak Furniture Land? All you have to do is show them what YOUR dream nursery looks like on Pinterest! Perfect way to procrastinate, eh? Just head to their blog for all the details on how to enter. Here’s mine, for inspiration!
I’m delighted to tell you that I’ll be posting on the Oak Furniture Land blog on topics of interiors from now on – I look forward to bringing you more home inspiration!
