Mecca Has Landed | HomeSense Milton Keynes

Everyone remembers their first TK Maxx experience. My local store was in Cheltenham, a quick hop and a skip away (i.e. a 1hr 20 minute bus) from the village where I grew up.

As a teenager it was a veritable treasure chest. My school friends and I would spend hours digging through the rails, searching for bargains to wear to the next school disco.

Finding big names for small prices in there still gives me a real thrill, only a couple of weeks ago did I pick up a Miller Harris candle for £15 when the exact same one was being sold at Net-a-Porter for £40. In your face, overpriced home scents.

And that’s where, as I move into my mature 30s, my true love lies: homewares. Which is why I’m absolutely thrilled, delighted and over-the-moon, bursting at the seams excited to tell you that TK Maxx’s wonderful housey sister, HomeSense is coming to my home-town of Milton Keynes.

Now, I used to have a HomeSense five years ago when I briefly moved back to Nottingham, but I’ve been hankering for one ever since re-locating to MK. Their wares are all over the interiors blogosphere as my fellow home magpies delightedly select beautiful bargains for their houses. I HAVE BEEN HORRIBLY JEALOUS.

We don’t have it bad interiors shopping-wise over here, goodness knows I spend enough time at IKEA. But their new collections are small and far apart, and I need my interiors itch scratched way more often than that. John Lewis, as lovely as it is, can be prohibitively expensive and so we need an in-between: HomeSense is it!

The MK store will be HomeSense’s 40th, where they’ll offer savings of up to 60% on branded and quality homeware and gifts for every room of the home. Frequent deliveries mean stock is updated regularly (YAY!) so there’ll always be something new to discover in-store.

I can’t wait to attend the VIP opening event at the store tomorrow evening (most exciting event Milton Keynes has seen in years) and will be reporting back on the brilliant items available to buy. The store will then be open to the public from 10am on Thursday 24th March, and there’ll be the Hot Club Gypsy Jazz Band playing from 10am-4pm as well as a coffee cart offering free teas, coffees and other hot drinks. In addition, there’ll be the HomeSense Curiosity Cabinet offering customers spending £30+ a chance to win a gift card or Easter Egg.

See you there! Regularly!

I’m working with HomeSense on the launch of their new MK store and, in case you can’t tell, am freaking THRILLED about it ;)

You know though, I’ve never quite got the hang of TKMaxx, I find it all a bit overwhelming. Homesense though, Homesense I can do. In fact, it was one of the things that swung it for me when thinking about moving back to Taunton – realising that we now have a Homesense! Perhaps I need to get out more…
