In our family, a trip to McDonald’s has always been a real treat.
This harks way back to when I was a kid and celebrating my eight birthday at our local McDonald’s restaurant, a party that went down in school legend as one of the best in Year 3. And now I’m a parent I can see the benefits outside of Happy Meal toys: it’s convenient, it’s yummy, and unlike most other kid-friendly activities, it’s good value for money. Which is why I’ve found myself munching down on at least three Quarter Pounder burgers with cheese in as many weeks recently.
This year, McDonald’s are hosting free Family Fun Days across the UK to make eating out at their restaurants even more fun for the kids (and stress-free for you!). Right up until December at selected restaurants they’ll have all kinds of activities from face painting, balloon modelling, board games and brain teasers to encourage family fun.
McDonald’s kindly sent us some of these treats to enjoy at home, and we made a little video so you can see how we got on:
We genuinely haven’t had so much fun on a rainy Wednesday in ages!
I loved the activity spinner thingy (technical term) – it took me right back to my school days and was full of interesting conundrums and jokes. Elfie’s favourite was the Happy Challenge, with Hux loving his old favourite, Snakes and Ladders. Brilliant! On such a miserable day we’d usually be stuck in front of the tv watching movies, but it was great to actually enjoy each others’ company instead.
You can find your nearest Family Fun Day at McDonald’s by clicking here – we have a massive three within ten miles of us so guess what we’ll be doing for lunch this weekend?
I’m working in a paid relationship with McDonald’s and BritMums on their Family Fun Days campaign. Discover how McDonald’s is helping create an enjoyable experience for families in restaurants to make it an even happier experience with more quality time.
