A/W Fashion Faves

A/W Fashion Faves

Summer is nearly gone!! BOOOO. Not counting the ‘Indian Summer’ we’re apparently about to experience I have been thoroughly disappointed with the UK’s sunshine. We should all be used to it by now I guess but I definitely still spent a few days wearing optimistic sandals in August and ended up with very wet feet.

Usually I don’t like to look forward to A/W because it means the sunshine is on its way out, but this year I’ve been pretty excited by some of the offerings:

So apparently there’s a big outrage in the middle-age middle classes about Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Ryan Reynolds representing M&S’s Autograph brand and how it’s alienating itself from the ‘real’ M&S consumer. Well, they can alienate awaybecause I love the campaign (shot by Greg Williams), especially this gorgeous stripy jacket (and we all know how much I love my stripes) and drapey shirt. And come on, it’s Rosie H-W!!

(helpfully neither of the things I like seem to be available online, but I do love these blouses and this fishnet knit jumper).

Whistles has blown me away and I am coveting pretty much everything on their website right now. Must remember I have nowhere to wear a £300 beaded dress (could I get away with it at David Lloyd)?

Back in the real world and I am definitely going to invest in some new Denim Jegging/Jean trousers from GAP. I understand ‘Jeggings’ are henious at best but these hybrids that you can’t tell are leggings are way comfier to me. At least it seems this way when you’re crawling round a ball pit trying to avoid the kid who just wet his pants.

Then the best ‘never gonna get’ aspect of A/W 11 is this fantastic Lanvin campaign (with a cameo by Alber Elbaz), apparently inspired by Zuma classes. Which is something I can actually do at David Lloyd.

Don’t forget you can see works contributed by Alber Elbaz at this weekend’s ‘Just Tell The Truth’ at the Royal Albert Hall.
