Finding Flexible Work: All About Coople

November 30, 2016
Coople review

Increasingly I’m noticing how popular flexible working is. Not just in my circle of work colleagues but within friends and family too: it’s really refreshing to see how many are shunning the confines of the 9-5 for a more family-friendly and flexible way of being employed.

Certainly in my situation I couldn’t do it any other way. At least, not without missing my children terribly and paying out extortionate costs for childcare. I need to work flexibly for my kids, my wallet – and my sanity!

One of the hardest things to do when I started working for myself was find clients who were happy with my flexible working arrangement. When you embark on your freelance working lifestyle, finding the actual work is the hardest part: but lucky for us we live in the age of the internet where just about anything is possible (if you have Deliveroo you’ll know what I mean ;).

There are plenty of flexible work platforms out there but today I wanted to highlight just one of these to you: Coople. Not to be confused with the over-priced French clothing brand, Coople is Europe’s number one flexible work platform, offering job opportunities direct to your mobile. Its services are provided for free and it only takes a few minutes to download and sign-up.

Coople review

Coople have done some research into the field of flexible working and their results are little depressing, if not unsurprising. For example, did you know that 2.24million women in the UK have more than one job – this is one in six (16 per cent) of working women. Three quarters of women without flexible working hours wish they had them… I know I used to count myself in this group.

Coople aim to make flexible work easier for everyone. They connect people looking for work with companies looking for help to cover shift work: from one day up to thirty. And in a Black Mirror-style twist, both parties can use the app to rate each other, which means you have a good idea of who you’re going to be working with (and them you!). It’s a great service for employers to use because Coople takes care of work eligibility checks, admin and payroll, and they fill an impressive 98% of roles within four hours.

It’s a super easy way to get starting on your flexible work. You simply sign up, pick what kind of work you’re interested in and the level of expertise, upload your proof of right to work in the UK and get cracking. On Coople you’ll find all kinds of work, from office admin, event management, retail, reception, customer service as well as positions in the hospitality industry, too. You’ll be paid weekly and are never under any obligation to accept work.

When a job comes up you’ll be notified if it fits your requirements, including geographical and time availability. You select to be considered for a position and if all goes well the employer will agree your suitability and bobs your uncle! You’re working.

Is flexible working for you?

Thanks to Coople for working with MTT!

Such a brilliant idea! I’m all for flexible working – I just wish more businesses would consider it. There are times when I find the flexible working sometimes leaves me frazzled – but that’s because I don’t always factor in that I can work AND do EVERYTHING else too (vlogged about this recently and just talking about it made me realise how hard it can be sometimes – especially with little childcare). But to have a quick tool to help you find relevant work in your field would really save time on admin and searching.
